MANUAL // I could be more successful if I just invested in being me.

“Don’t ever stop working and mastering your craft. Once you start, don’t stop- just keep going.”

Nathan Smart @nathansmartmusic

Nathan Smart, a multi-potentialite (musician, dancer, producer, manager and video director) buries himself in his work, perfecting each and every little detail of every video, song and routine. His advice for young artists, “don’t have high expectations of the outcome straight away.”

When I first started out, I thought I needed to make the kind of music that people wanted to hear in order to be successful. I thought I needed to sing certain songs, have a particular sound and make particular videos. The more I did it, the more I grew tired of it so I started to work on my own genre and I realised that I didn’t need to conform. That I could be more successful if I just invested in being me. Now that’s all I want to do, just be me- I’ll perfect it if I have to.”

I’ve worked closely with Nathan before and will continue doing so for this precise reason. In the process of our collaborative projects, he has given such depth to my music that amplifies every emotional heart string.
